I'm thinking about going with LED turn signals on my softail and know I need a load equalizer. Will I need 1 for for each set of turn signals or just 1 for all 4? Also, looking at various websites, I noticed they vary in amps. Does it make a big difference if I get say a 4 amp equalizer vs. a 2 amp?
While browsing Ebay I noticed in-line resistors. Could these be used as well?
Usually one equalizer works for all four directionals. Some LED directionals have a built in equalizer so an additional one is not needed. If you are looking around I recommend you check out Custom Dynamics; http://www.customdynamics.com/motorc...rn_signals.htm . That's where I got my LED turns, tasil light and equalizer. Couldn't be happier.
You can use the ebay resisters or you can get them at radio shack. They will heat up so you need to find a safe spot to install them. safest bet is a new turn signal madule
I use an equalizer from Biketronics, it's plug and play and handles all the sigs and tail light.
Good customer service, too. I had a unit short out after 3 years and they replaced it free of charge. I asked the rep why some other brands are much cheaper. He said that the others use resistors which heat up, like JohnFlorida said. I didn't ask what system they used but probably wouldn't have understood it anyway.
