My son racesa blaster in hare scrambles. So, being the big baby that I am, I figured if I had to be down at the track anyway, I might as well buy myself one so that I can race also. I go down to the dealer with my wife (we're just going to look honey, I swear [sm=devilgrin.gif]). When we get to the dealer I start looking at 4 wheelers, and then the2 wheelers catch my eye. I get on a YamahaWR 250Fand mybrain (???)starts telling my body it's 15 years old again(please mommy can I get it?). Well she says yes, andafter riding it this past weekendmy body is nowtelling my brain "you're not 15 anymore".
I have 4 different ATV's and a 20' cargo triler to haul them. The whole family rides regulary. Have freinds that ride with us also. Did race XC one season, in 2003, on my Kawasaki Prairie 650. The series (in Texas, ATVCCS) was brand new and there wasn't a lot of entries in my class, but I did manage to hang in there and pull off a championship for the season. Haven't raced since then.
Harley riding has supplanted the atv riding as of late. That's not a bad thing either!
Well I just got back from the greatest offroad race of them all. Baja 1000. I will say that the new Can-Am is a damn ripper.
We were at mile 177 just outside of San Felipe and good God that guy was putting the hammer down. He was passing the bikes! Ofcoarse he was not as fast as ol 1X but he was fast man.
If I was in the market for a new quad I would seriously look at the new Can-Am
Oh and FYI, Jeepspeed Class 3 is where it is at now for offroad racing.

WgSkee, I know what you mean. 50+ year old body and a 15 year old brain. Been there, done that. And pretty sore the next day. But I never learn. Going to Glamis dunes Sunday with my 22 year old son. He just a a 700 Raptor and want's togo riding with me, so we're gonna have a "boys day out". I know I will be sore and worn out Christmas day, but it will be well worth it. Like your son, he is all smiles and happy that just him and me are going for the day.
OK, so I couldn't wait til tomorow. We went to Glamis today and rode our quads. Little windy, but with all the gear on you don't notice it, and the dunes were really nice. Lots of virgin sand, not too many people there. Only got one ride in cause had an electrical problem and couldn't refill the tanks for another ride. Might go again tomorow if I can figure out what the problem is.
