Default Remove Rubber From Pipes

I have some marks on my pipes that I'm pretty sure are from a passengers sneaker sole. I've tried polish and kerosene to remove but they did not work. I've been told that 0000 steel wool may work and won't scratch the chrome. Thoughts and input?

Thanks,

You need the pipes to be hot when you clean them, I would avoid kerosene if you do that though.

Do not use steel wool. Go to a hardware store & buy a small copper pipe joiner or elbow.
Flatten it out and start scraping. It works really well & will not scratch the pipes at all. Pipes are best when cold for this fix.

I wouln't use steel wool. Steel against chrome ='s dull chrome.

Thanks! Actually I meant to say acetone instead of kerosene. Sounds like most say to heat up and clean. Pipes are off bike so I guess I'll hit lightley with heat gun and go to work.

Put some Easy Off oven cleaner on a rag then dab it on the rubber and let it set for a while. DO NOT spray the Easy Off onto the bike because the overspray will get on the paint.

Just keep it on the chrome. I can eat other surfaces.

DONT spray easy off anywhere near your bike.

i learned the hard way. it got all the boot remains off my pipe but i was scrubbing easy off off of the black parts for weeks.

i scratched/dulled my pipe with nevr dull, and i had good results with steel wool
