HELP! '06 Street Glide FXLT

Default HELP! '06 Street Glide (FLHX)
I am looking to purchase a 2006 Street Glide (FLHX) which is mostly stock except for the Screamin Eagle exhaust and some minor chrome add ons. There is an "ugly" weld on the frame, (both downtubes), mid-way between the neck and the stock reflectors. It is on both sides and in roughly the same place and it just doesn't look right. The bike rides fine and the owner swears that it's never been wrecked, but he's the second owner. I've never seen a weld in that area on any H.D. but I've never owned a Street Glide nor have I ever examined one up close until today. Is there anyone that can help me out before I make an $11K mistake. I will try to attach a picture. Thanks

If I can remember I'll look at mine in the morning when I get home and compare to your pictures.

Right, a Street Glide is a FLHX. I wonder if there might be another weld under the tank where someone switched the neck because of the vin #.

He has to mean FLHX.

I just looked at my 08 Street Glide (FLHX) and it DOES have the welds that OP is talking about. Interesting... I never noticed them before.

my 07 rkc has them it looks like one pipe stuck inside
anothep pipe and welded

Yeah, I just looked at mine and those are the welds at the union of the neck assembly and the down tubes. Perfectly normal.
