I just purchaes pipes online http://www.wildpigpipes.com/ angle cut. If I put these on myself will they void my warranty for my 05 Ultra Classic. HD says yes, but this seems like a scam if you want to upgrade and have to pay them to do the work. I like working on my own bike and maintaining it. I had a bad experience with there mechanics at HD and they almost cost me a entire season of riding because the could not determine a problem I was having with my Sportster a couple years ago.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

They can't void your warrantee on the bike for pipes installed by anybody other than themselves even though they try to tell you that. Ask them to put that in writing for you, bet they refuse for some oddball reason. The only problem you may have is if you have a failure of something associated with the pipes, like if you snap a mounting stud for the pipes or do some damage like burning a valve due to a lean mixture, here's where the problem lies, but they have to prove it. If you install pipes and lets say your trans goes south on you, it's still covered.

Read this or even print it out and show the dealer
