I have been thinking of switching over to Redline Shockproof full synthetic in the tranny ONLY in my '07 RKC.
I have 2 questions regarding it's use. My only reason to switch is that I wanna quiet down the 5th gear clatter, although I only notice it with the windsheild on. Will this oil quiet down my 5th gear? That's the only reason I wanna change.
Also--do I need to flush my tranny completely of Formula+, or can I just drain it & dump in the Redline? I figured I would just dump it in, ride a hundred miles, then change it again, just to be sure. Or is that necessary? Thanks you in advance.
Search here @ Mixed oils. Many Forum threads on subject. I added gear oil to motor oil....Talked to Redline and got useful and helpful info. Explained to me Gear Oil & Tranny oil not the same and tranny oil should be used in tranny.

Read my post and then go to Redline Oil's web page, some of the gear oils and transmission oil's are IDENTICAL!
I use it in my Fatty. Drain and fill. No need to do it again.
I think it helps reduce the clunk on shift.
No miracles but I still use it.
It does look like Pepto Bismal.
I like redline but oil is oil and i havent noticed that much difference. Any good gear oil will do the same as redline. Hell at my last oil change i put redline, royal purple and syn3 in the primary because i just didnt have enough of any of them laying around. Bike still hums down the rode perfectly fine, but I cant wait to see the psychodelic colors that come out of the primary the next time i change the fluid.
not to throw a nut in the machinery but my clunk was louder and it seemed harder to shift after I changed from mobil 1 to redline in my primary. going back to mobile one next change

Reason: clarification
Put this stuff in about 10 days ago after having it recommended to me. Haven't noticed any difference at all in the clunk or 5th gear whine. Had Syn3 in it before (02 Fatboy). Guess it's fine but doesn't appear to have any advantage over anything else.
I'm about done believing any more magic oil stuff. Next change I am going to put some kind of Mobil 1 in every hole and quit thinking about it.
