The Dussenburg Museum in Auburn, In. is a nice place to visit on a ride. Check the city info on the internet. They have a one day motorcycle rally there each year at the auto auction location. Reduced admission for bikers at the museum.
Ride U.S.52 South of Cincy to point pleasant . That is where US Grant was born. The. South to where ferry takes you across Ohio River into Kentucky. Go to rabbity hash and the. North to Cincy loop and back into Indiana. Fun all day ride
If you ever head north a bit follow the Maumi River through Napoleon and Grand Rapids and hit the HD dealer in Perrysburg. Grand Rapids is a great little town for lunch, right on the banks of the river. There's also a HD dealer in Napoleon. Southeast Ohio has great riding, too many roads to remember.
You are correct sir, it is Fairmount, and yes both of them are from there.
I had the bad luck to hit it off-season when basically everything was closed but the sign on the edge of town caught my full attention. It had Dean in his classic "leaning" pose, cigarette and all, with Garfield under his arm.
I love Indiana for "wandering"; I'll hit the state and just meander around totally unplanned for a few days. A couple really cool Harley shops (I love Hales in Wabash), lots of small town festivals, two cool amusement parks (Indiana Beach and HolidayWorld) and the back roads are a blast on a bike. As long as you don't get that semi that wants to do 75 between the corn rows behind you. PA has mountains, switchbacks and lots of cool stuff but Indiana is just easy on the brain.
Sounds to me like we need to have a Indiana/Ohio/N.Kentucky meet and greet sometime. I'd be MORE than happy to show you all around here. We have some awesome riding all around this area.
Another couple of great routes to ride if your ever down this way is SR446 South out of Bloomington towards Bedford. Curvy and goes through the Hoosier Natl. Forest past lake Monroe. You can either take it all the way to U.S. 50 or better yet, turn left in Heltonville onto 58 and head into Bedford or Right onto 58 and wind your way back to Little Nashville.
You can also take SR 450 out of Bedford to Shoals IN. Nice curvy @ss road that will keep you on your toes, takes you through Willimas past the dam and covered bridge, and in Shoals you can check out the world famous Jug Rock (google it), the Catfish Festival or ride through the country and check out Hindosen Falls on the White River.
Then head out of Shoals on 150 to French Lick if you like. more great routes down that way as well.
