From what I gather from your post your doc says you should get to 90% of a completely normal heart. Is that right? Sounds like you will be good to go to me once you get there.

3 Stents 9 year ago due to severe angina; never had a heart attack. Rode & mowed the lawn the day after the stents were put in, because the change after having the stents installed was so sudden & abrupt. I went from barely being able to walk, to feeling like Superman instantly. 3 years ago, I went into A-Fib from getting pissed off, then developed heart failure. Could barely walk, yet I only missed 1 day of work. Dr. put me on Coumadin & told me not to ride, since even a minor accident could result in me bleeding to death. I told him "you might as well kill me right now", then went home & went riding. then2 months later, they cardioverted me back to normal. (Well, normal for the ol' Dickster.) No problems now. Am on Atenolol, Pravastatin,Aspirin,Paxil (to keep me from geting pissed off; doesn't work too well) & Allopurinol for gout. No problems with riding, but sometimes gotta take a little Blue 'cause the meds screw up my dorker, but it's been working fine for the last couple years. Actually, depends on how good looking she is.

Thanks, I was off work for 6 weeks, then I went back to my normal routine.

Did nearly the same thing in June 2003. Now I do pretty much what I want. My only caution concerns the Plavix. I crashed a bicycle while on Plavix and damn near bled to death from the road rash - I wouldn't stop bleeding. If you are going to ride while taking Plavix - gear up - armored jacket , helmet and the rest of the goodies. A long slide in t shirt and jeans will be a real problem. ....paul

Had my 3rd heart attack last 4th of july. The first one a couple years earlier put me on my *** for a while, but this last one, just another stent, few days in the cicu and home as soon as BP was back up. Rode to my first cardiologist follow up 2 weeks after.

Plavix and 325mg aspirin...i bleed if I think about blood. MedicAlert wristband just in case.

How did you stop the bleeding or did you go to the hospital and they got it stopped? Just curious as I am on plavix too.

Are you on Plavix 75mg? I am and so are several family members. I'm also on aspirin 325mg. For minor cuts it takes a while longer and it can make a bit of a mess but eventually the bleeding stops. Of course applying pressure helps. I can't speak for everyone though.

I also cut myself good with a knife a few months back that probably should have required a stitch or two but I just wrapped it tight and it took a while but the bleeding stopped.

I do think something more major could be an issue. If it makes you feel safer you could wear a med alert bracelet.

Yes that is what I am on and aspirin and some other meds. If you don't mind me asking how does the med alert bracelet work and how do you get one?

Just go to your local pharmacy. Mine is CVS. They have the applications displayed at the pick up counter. You fill out the form and send it in. They have many choices. From stainless to 10k gold. Also bracelets and dogtags.

If not at your pharmacy:
