Flat tire out on the road.....what to do?
#52
I have installed patches, but most are straight plugs of the largest size.
If the object is still in the tire, which it usually is, I pay very close attention to its direction.
If you don't insert the reamer and insertion tool in the same direction as the object you risk a bigger problem.
If the object is missing, good luck!
Its very difficult to plug a tire without it being full of air, so I overinflate, have my plug ready in the insertion tool, remove object, immediately insert the reamer followed by the plug.
If you have a the non-hardening sealant to dip the plug in before insertion thats a good idea too.
When I do remove the tire a see a big knot of plug inside I am confident it will not be blown out.
That all being said, if the puncture is more of a rip ya got a bigger problem and may have to patch for temporary use then change out the tire.
I pulled a car key out of my rear tire once and a patch held up well.
Good luck & Enjoy the ride
