My background is in electronics and I could share a lot of info about myths about spark plugs but you can probably just do a search and read-up.
The best plugs I've tested on my custom engines are the Gold plated plugs Harley sells.
Gold is a very durable conductor. Those plugs are excellent but they are not typically on the shelf, just ask the parts dept for the ones that fit your bike and give them a try.
note: There are tons of myths about plugs and plug wires, be smart and do some research.
Longtime user of AutoLite plugs.
Headquarters are in my state...CT.
Most of them are made in the US and Mexico. I know a few low volume lines are outsourced to China..but not the ones I've ever gotten.
On my stock 08 96 with SE255 cams and Python true duals I use the NGK DCPR8E(stock # 4179) which is one step colder, gap them @ .040 like the stock ones, bike runs great and no issues and I get them for under $3.00, incl. tax, at my local Advanced Auto Parts store.
What kind of spark plugs does everyone use for their bike? Do you always use HD plugs or do you get aftermarket like bosch or NGK? I need to get some new plugs and the idea that there are other plugs out there besides HD hit me so I started wondering. The plugs I get will be for my '92 sportster 1200 just fyi
The HD plugs are made by Champion. The Champion # for the 1200 Sporty is:
