i guess im getting desperate. ive got about half the money saved for my bike (budget is 8-10K). with 4 kids and the shitty economy its getting harder to save the cash. then it hit me, im driving this 09 chevy truck that ive been paying $419 monthly. so i called to find out how much i owe on the truck...BINGO!! its worth more than i owe. so im selling it and buying an older used truck. should be able to get enough money out of it to get into a bike SOON
I think you would be better off refinancing, or using a home equity loan to keep your truck, unless you get a good deal on selling your truck.
A used truck could be a money pit, that sucks up your savings. I drive an 03 work truck and that does save me a lot of money. I have looked at used trucks, buut they are selling for ridiculous prices since Cash for Clunkers. I keep mine because I have maintained it. It hurts to look at the rust that is starting, and the couple of bumps from deer hits, but it is nice to have no payment.
that sounds like a plane .......
i hate finance and avoid it like the plague where possible ,
you will get there eventually , and it will mean all the more to you because you've saved hard for it , but don't forget you have a family as well .... women have long and spiteful memories and that could also backfire at some point ..lol
what bike are you after ,
My wife opted for continuing to drive her older car so we could purchase a second bike. She said she still likes the car and it is paid for she didn't need a new one and besides the bike is a lot more fun.

It does take awhile to get what you want. Just save what you can, and hang in there!
