I admitidly don't know all the facts about ethanol, but I do know I have been burning it for years (It's about all you can buy in Iowa) with no problems. NASCAR is using it now and have been setting some track records lately,The government has been subsidising big oil for years. And back in the day before they put it in gas, I was bootlegging some corn liquor back home from Tennessee and run out of gas, I dumped a quart of shine in my tank and got to the next station. I put another 100k on that truck and it still ran good when I traded it in.
It may have wandered a little bit though.
"Big Oil" is not subsidized. They get the same type of tax breaks any other corporation would get. A tax break is NOT a subsidy.
The EPA as well as Obama are doing a fine job Of ruining our country
We have one chance to get rid of this nimrod before life as we once knew it in this once great, proud and self sufficient country has in fact been "fundamentally changed" forever.

Exactly. (Ethanol IS subsidized though) The current regime has been using the term "subsidies" over and over again and without any challenge from the media.
The fact is that every business in this country gets to write off expenses and depreciate assets; oil companies are no different, except that they are called "subsidies" when the bamster is talking about oil companies. When he is talking about windmills and solar energy companies (the ones going bankrupt left and right) he calls that "investments".
The fact is that many other companies (like pharmaceuticals and even personal care products) make more of a profit per unit sold than do the oil companies. The sheer volume of petroleum product sales results in bigger numbers in terms of $$ amounts so it is easy for the regime to demagog the issue, especially to people that don't know the difference between a profit and a profit margin.
These are the simple facts and there is no "pie in the sky" free energy out there and no amount of taxpayer money wasted is going to change that.

Good point. If I'm not mistaken, Formula 1 racers now run 100% ethanol and NASCAR is currently mandating E15. They run very well on these fuels because they are tuned for them, which our on-road vehicles are not. Flex-fuel cars don't run well on E85 because they are tuned to use both E85 and gasoline. If on-road vehicles were tuned for pure alcohol and could run it cost-effectively, and they could find a way to produce it without the requirement to use fossil fuel in the process, I would be all for it. Engines run cleaner and cooler with ethanol, and IMO the less oil consumed in this country the better for a number of good reasons. None of these conditions apply, so I'm not for its use until they do--or at least until a reasonable compromise is met.
For my lawn equipment I have to run Stabil or it goes to **** real quick. It's crap gas and doesn't produce the same energy that good old gas does. They keep shoving it down our throats and we keep taking it. All because of the global warming BS. Im sorry but I just don't swallow that load of crap. Big government sucks ***!
