hey i think we got a little off topice here....he WAS origianlly looking for a helmet for the little guy/girl. i think one of those old dairy queen sundae helmets (remember those) might work just fine. they come in a variety of styles and should fit well. i'm unsure of the actual dot rating.....

Congrats! And for the helmet question if you were serious, HJC makes child sized DOT approved helmets. I have one for my 3 year old and he LOVES riding. First trip was to WalMart to buy him some boots. We got off the bike at Walmart and got his helmet off. First thing he said? "That was AWESOME!" Out of the mouths of babes....
