Well I'm a forum lurker right now. I ride a GSXR 600 sportbike right now but I am going to convert some time soon or in the near future. I recently went to a Victory demo to try out all the bikes to get a feel what its like. I figured I would have a problem backing them up on a slight incline because of their weight, I was right.
I want to purchase a Road King, Deluxe, or Street Glide. In comparison, those bikes are roughly 500 lbs heavier than my bike!
I haven't been able to make it to a Harley demo yet, I'm trying. My question is, what do you do if you are trying to back up a slight hill?
I ride with a motorcycle club, of all types of bikes, and they can maneuver their bikes fairly easy (Up and down hills). (I'm 5'8 120lbs!) Do I have a real chance being able to maneuver these slightly? (Sure, I can do a U-turn to park down a hill, but those inclines!)
Thanks for the future responses! I'm going to try and get a test ride going to find out myself.
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to handle it. You simply plan ahead and never park in a position that would make you have to push uphill backwards. OR frontwards, I guess, depending on the situation.
Thanks! It makes me feel more confident about that. I'll just have to take the "heat" from the people when I'm the only one doing it. Oh well, thick skin!
Do the cheeseburger thing! But don't sweat it. I ride a rk and I park where I don't need to back it up a hill I have samson true duals and the rear header gets real hot even w/ a heat shield. Leg gets close to the pipe.
Don't park the bike on a hill where it's leaning on the jiffy stand too far or uphill where there is no lean and someone's brat walks over and tips it. Other than that it will be just fine.
Thanks for all the input. I was mainly worried about trying to "mandle" the the bike since I have a sportbike. All great tips and will definitely use them. Now I need to get that test ride going!
