Got some chrome strut bolts the other day. When I took the old bolts off it seemed only 2 had loctite on them, the rest came out simply. When I put the new bolts in I didn't have any loctite and it was night so I couldn't get any. Anyway question is, is it 100% important that I use loctite or will they be fine without?
Didn't use any loctite on mine when I used some allthread to make the bungee anchors work like a strut bolt. Haven't come loose yet. Well over a year and 6000 miles.
Unless there is a self-locking nut on the end of a bolt, every thread on my bikes gets hit with loctite. You won't ever know that you should have used it until it is too late.
Edit...I just looked it up in the manual and it does NOT call for loctite.
if it's not a rigid frame u might get lucky and never run into a problem. but why be lucky when u can back 'em out, put a lil loctite on 'em, screw 'em back in, and not have to worry anymore? if i know i won't be taking it off i always use loctite.
