Did the search but no luck.
Appears I over estimated the load on the shocks for my WG and Progressive says that they'll take back the HD springs and send me the standard rate ones. (Thanks Progressive)
Been years since I had to take a shock apart, can't find a manual and hate to bung one of these units up trying to get it apart.
I believe there's a specialized jig to keep the spring compressed and allows you to release the tension on it slowly--to keep it from flying off and killing someone (you, most likely). I guess you could jury rig something, though I wouldn't do so. But to each his own...
I sent my shocks back to Progressive for the spring swap. It was only 20 or 30 bucks all tolled, including shipping. This is what I'd recommend.

I used to have a tool I made that worked well to compress the springs on shocks, but that went when I sold the business.
They told me $15 a spring but I assumed I had to remove the spring, maybe not.
Thanks, I'll call them and check
