This may have been discussed before, but is anybody here using Simple Green to wash their bikes? Pros and cons please.

I have never used it to wash. sposed to be safe. But there are products out there for washing, why not use them? $10 on a bottle of Meguires goes a long way. Use simple green for grease and really bad crap, works great for that! MHO.

I can't remember if it was simple green or mean green, but my ex-wife used one of them to clean the garage door and it bubbled the paint.

Been using Simple Green from advice from an old biker. Really works well! (Simple Green does not "bubble" paint)

...if you say so. I mean, old bikers know everything, right?

It must have been mean green that bubbled the paint. No wait, now I remember, it was the ex-wife that bubbled the paint.

Well here's some advice from this old biker. Don't spray any kind of chemical crap on your bike...just get on the damn thing and ride.

I got a gallon jug of the concentrated version from Sam's and use it for my bike and truck.
Put some in the bottom of a 5gal. pail, half fill it with water and use a sponge to wash the bike with.
It takes off that sludge of dust, grease, and oil that collects on the lower parts of the bike at least as well as most of the much more expensive 'designed for a bike' products.
But I still like to use a wax like Blue Ice on it after it dries because Simple Green doesn't leave anything like a wax behind the way some automotive products are supposed to.

The DOD has banded its use on aircraft due to corrosion and embrittlement of aluminum.

There is an aluminum safe formula called Extreme Simple Green Aircraft & Precision Cleaner.

I use it only around and under the oil filter area to clean up after oil changes, diluted and rinsed very well.

Google something like; Simple Green aluminum embrittlement DOD

I use simple green for my bike and lots of other things too.
Pro's, it's cheap and works great.
Con's, it doesn't have a Harley Davidson logo on the label.
