The SERT and the PC are just tools. Is one screw driver better than another? Your mechanic may favor one over the other, but that doesn't mean another equally talented wrench won't see it the other way...

Lots of people call themselves tuners. You know, the guy who graduated last in medical school is still called Doctor. Find the best tuner or two in your area and ask them what they prefer.
They are both tuners but they work in different ways. The sert re-programs your bikes engine management system whereas the power commander intercepts the ecu's messages, then sends new ones according to how its programmed.
Now a power commander is user serviceable. You can modify your tune on a laptop. I don't know if a sert is user adjustable.
Now if your going to get your bike tuned I suggest buying whatever the shop your using recommends, simply because they are doing the tuning.
Or you can message fuel Moto. They will sell you a power commander and they will write up a map based on your mods. Then, after you have ridden for a while you can inform them what the bike is doing(decel pop, backfire, etc) and then they will make the necessary adjustments, then email you the revised map which you load up to the power commander, and ride on.
I have no experience with the sert but I do have a pcv.
My bike runs like a champ, gets great mileage(considering my mods) so I can't say a bad word about the unit. I have read about some guys having trouble with them but I haven't.
Either or will give you what you want, just in a different way.
The guy doing the tuning is more important than which unit you choose. Stay away from that piece of crap fuel pak. It's a nightmare, decel pop was unreal and if you fix the decel pop it backfires instead. I was on a first name basis with the guy who sent me different maps to try. Not once have I had to talk with anyone about my pcv.
