Default Voltage

Voltage indicator drops to 12 volts when stopped. Is this normal?

Just like mine's been doing for the last 12 years.

As long as you get 13.5 to 13.8 volts over 2000 rpm, you're good.

BTW, my gauge reads off, ( low,) I'm sure some others do too.

Thanks. I just never paid attention to the voltage indicator I guess.

with all these fine regulators floating around ( on the new bikes!) people better start paying more attention to that gauge, or make sure their AAA is paid up!

You could take a voltage measurement directly off the battery, then compare the readings from the gauge and multimeter. The other day I checked mine and it was 13.2v right after shutdown. 12.8 volts is considered a full charge on the low side.
