Default sidecar

We are thinking of buying a sidecar for our 2012 Heritage. Does anyone know if a 1987 Calirfornia II sidecar will fit our bike?
Thanks for your input.

It's not about the sidecar per se, it's a bout the clamp kit. Be ready that there's none available for your bike, so just get the universal one and have some particular attachments / brackets made for your bike

There are a lot of side car manufacturers out there, and some make some pretty slick units. Liberty makes a beautiful unit. However if you want to contribute to the value of your bike and have it hold it's value in the future try to find a Harley Davidson sidecar.

This is the voice of experience speaking here. I researched sidecars inside and out, before buying the one I have now. I was lucky, and found one that had been installed at the dealership, when the bike was new.

If you research it thoroughly you'll find that the aftermarket sidecars don't seem to add to the value as much as the "genuine". This has got to change since Harley no longer produces sidecars, but at this point no one knows which manufacturer will fill the void!

At this point California Sidecar has suspended production on their sidecars, and from what I've heard are having grave financial problems.

Just my opionion (for what it's worth) I'd search High and Low for a Harley Sidecar or even a Harley with one already attached. Anytime Harley Davidson quits making anything, it usually appreciates in value. I think this is going to be true with the Sidecars. Not everyone likes the Trikes, and you can haul 3 people on a sidecar unit or carry "lotsoshit"! In my neck of the woods, Harley sidecars are selling for about $4500, and there are lots of sidecar Indy shops that can install them for you.

Once you really dive into it you'll find a whole "subculture" in the sidecar industry! Most Harley Dealers will treat you like a "Redheaded Stepchild", but there are a few that are not afraid of them!

Just my $.02 worth

I was under the impression Harley Davidson didn't support side cars on softails due to the articulation of the swing arm.

I might be wrong, but definitely check into it before dropping a wad of money.

I had a sidecar on a 2000 Heritage. I bought it from Dauntless Motors, they had a bracket kit that fit the softail perfectly. You will have to do a google search for their web page.

Had a Hannigan sidecar, like a fighter jet cockpit. Was nice but after a day of riding, made ny shoulders ache. Got rid of it gladly. It had electric adjustment for the height so it would track smoothly and true.
