I carry the "main" 40 amp fuse with me, never needed it. If it blew it would probably be a major enough problem that I wouldn't be able to fix it myself alongside the road anyway, I could probably leave it at home.

I carry them and have used them. FWIW, Don't try an after-market cigarette lighter. It'll work for a bit, then blow the fuse. That same fuse controls all instrumentation too -- while the bike still runs, it's a bit un-nerving (at least to me) not to have any instruments.
