Default breakdowns

Got an 09 ultra classic. Bought new in 09. Just turned 23,000. April the starter relay went bad. 2 weeks to the day the lighting relay went bad. First week of June front wheel bearing blew out on the blue ridge parkway. A week later while on freeway at 70 MPH the bike went into parade mode. Limped 10 miles @ 17 MPH to nearest dealer. Need a new throttle body. Couple weeks later the radio went bad. Wife does not want to go anywhere because she is afraid it will break down. Anybody else having these kind of issues? Thank god i got the ESP

At the rate your going, you will have a new bike soon!

The only highway breakdown for me in the last 10 years was a throttle cable.

Have had some issues, but nothing that stranded me since I had my Goldwing'

Just today replaced clutch cable 'cause it was leaking, but no biggie.

Seems like touring bikes have more problems than any of the others. It's always my RK in the shop; never the Fatboy. Too much crapola on the touring bikes to go wrong. That's why I like the RK--bare bones touring; less to go wrong.

My only breakdown in four years was a bad ground...

I agree with 1flh - at that rate...

Good god, sounds like you got a lemon out of the batch. Quality control must've not gotten good sleep the night before they checked that bike!

I agree, just one that slipped through the cracks somehow. The vast majority of them are as reliable as any other make.

Default break down, lay down

40 years of riding never had a break down. had two lay downs but never break down and that includes iron head sporty and a 74 inch shovelhead FLH. use to ride that shovel 120 miles per day round trip to work and back also. Luck of the draw i guess. i have ridden from san diego to dallas, texas and back several times and san diego to oakland, calif probably 5 times. getting a bit older and most of my riding is now around town on my newest and last bike, a 2012 FLD dyna. on a side note that AMF iron head never did run right and probably is still not running right for the poor guy i sold it to.

OP, you went a couple of years then started having one problem after another, sounds like. That sucks. Is there anything you can think of that might have contributed to these issues...have you ridden in a lot of rain such that the bike doesn't dry out? Parked outside in the elements, covered or not? Anything?
