Why did HD drop the Heritage Springer?

Default Why did HD drop the Heritage Springer?
For the fans of nostalgic bikes the Heritage Springer had to be the greatest looking bike on the market. Does anyone know why HD dropped the HS from its lineup?Lack of sales? If my memory is correct wasn't it only offered for about six years?

good point. probably some "genious" corporate market'g exec. who doesn't care for "old school"

I think for the same reason they discontinued the Softail Deluxe (the prettiest bike they made IMHO) a few years back and just returned it this year. Just part of their marketing ploys. Sort of like:Absence makes the heart grow fonder !!!!

Dropped the custom in '99, it's back and the springer softail is gone. Seems some model are more cyclical than others.

So ya gotta buy saddlebags?

They offer the FLSTSC "Softtail Springer Classic", I don't know all the differences between the to modles but looks like it is mostly the add-ons.

I would imagine sales was the primary reason. I heard back in the 70's HD made a few of the 'cafe racer' models that literally sat unsold for years. Harley is around to make money after all!

It was a nice looking bike though!

Probably the same reason they stopped making the FXR.The exuberant cost to make.

you are correct according to the dealer , said it was to "labor intense" to assemble at the factory.
