I will be in the market for a touring bike here pretty soon. I thought I was set on a Road King, but I was perusing the HD site and looked at a Road Glide. Not too bad. I didnt think I liked the whole fairing thing, but it actually works on the new ones. I like the dual headlights. I got a look at one in person the other day at the HD shop and was again pretty impressed. I looked at the specs and they are really the same bike with bolt on differences. It will strictly be a long haul bike riding two up. I am not selling my current bike.
What do those of you who have a ton more experience have to say?
Better go and ride the Road Glide. Bud of mine was set on getting one till he test rode it. He said everything on it was shaking and its not put together real well. This was a New bike also.

OP, not sure whay you mean thst the fairing works on the new ones. Other than a minor change in angle, they have been exactly the same for years.
I am sure you are correct. I have just never looked at bikes with fairings that hard before. The Electra Glide fairing is what I think of when I see a fairing and I dont like it. The single light and the size of the fairing just dont look good to me.
Got 62K on my 08 RG love it. IMHO with a RK you have all the neg. of a big bike with no advantages. The faring, radio, and cruse to me makes a BIG difference.
The down side. Don't let the dual headlights fool you They SUCK not bright enough and very easy to out run your lights.

Same platform and motor. Big difference is obviously the fairing. RG also has a radio. RG base price is 2K higher.
I compared the specs and the RG has a slightly lower (26.1" v 26.5") seat height. The only other difference of consequence in the specs is the advantage of lean angle on the RK (31/33 v 29/32).
Test ride both if you can and decide which is best for you.
