Look at the 45,000 mile schedule for touring bikes. There is a good day's work on that list. I know, I've done it to my bike many times. Looks like about 8 hours worth to me.

You don't, unless you stand next to the tech and watch them do it. Dealers skate around that with "our insurance won't let you in here".

nowhere near 8 hrs. if you look at the list, out of 21 items, 13 are inpsections. you should be able to change the oil, adjust the clutch, service the air filter and do all those inspections in 2 hrs or less. if you take your time.
