No, I'm not starting another "whats best" oil thread.
I just want to know if anyone is using the Valv. VR1 in all 3 holes of thier late model EVO without problems. It has API SL/CF. I can buy it for $4.50 a QT.
I have read in a couple oil threads that "Zinc" was an important additive and Valv. advertises the VR1 as " High in Zinc ".
It's great oil and shows well on used oil analysis however it contains the friction modifier called moly and should NOT be used in the primary. It may shorten clutch life.
I use rotella in my primary. It's cheap and meets the jaso spec for use in wet clutches.

Exactly right. You don't put this oil in your primary crankcase only.
OP, if you go to the Valvoline website, it specifically mentions that VR1 Synthetic is NOT for use with wet clutches.
