I agree the owner could come get the bike it he has the title and there is nothing you could do. You could contact the DMV with vin# and find who was registered to and try to contact yourself..
So Some more information..........Mostly bad info..........
I do have a Bill of Sale. Thats the good news.
The bad news.
This is not a harley dealer, it is a can am dealer.
The bike was taken on trade in. When they took the trade the dealer did NOT HAVE MONEY to pay off the loan. How crazy is that.......
So it was not a consignment. Instead, they had a bike that was not in thier name. Since they couldnt pay off the loan, they couldnt transfer the title to them.
When I bought it, the dealer took the money to the bank and paid off the bike. They now have the title in hand, but it still isnt in the dealerships name. Instead it is the original owners still.
So thier plan was to mail her the title for the bike in her name and have her sign it and mail it back. So I am pitching a fit about that. I want to give them one more chance to do this. I want them to make her come to the dealership and sign in. I do not want her to have the title in her hands...
This whole thing is crazy..........
At this point I would just take it to them and say give me my $ back, I am tired of dealing with this.
BUT..... I am an idiot.......
I never even thought about this being a problem so I went and put a fair amount of mods on the bike that I will have to strip off before I can take it back to them if this goes belly up and I cant do that durring the week because of my job.... So they have until Saturday to get me a signed title I guess.
Why can't the dealer just ride over to this hags place and have her sign the title?
Exactly....
She traded it, she can't live THAT far away.
Send a salesperson out to her house and ask her to sign over the title.
Why would they waste another week or two mailing it to her?
Riven: Have you seen the title at the dealership, or are they just telling you they have it?
I'm willing to bet they still haven't paid the lien and don't have the title........
something very fishy here.
