What's with the guys that are too bad *** to have someone ride behind them for a while? Get over yourself....
I don't care if some lonely ******** drops in behind me for a while. If he gets too close, I'll wave him away. If he rides next to me, he'll get a big finger.
Based on your sig pic....I don't think you'll have this problem anytime soon. But if you do I am sure they would be a ********.
if you are walking to the store and you catch up to some other dude walking,....do you slow down and follow him?...step up beside him and strike up a conversation? Or do you continue at your own pace and tend to your own business?
As usual I like a combo of the above:
treat like its just another car or truck except- I will get in stagger formation
if he/she does. Or if one pulls in behind me I will more aware of keeping left so they can stagger formation behind.
Might get a little closer with stagger than i would a car.
At traffic light I will get to rear tire to be sure they know I am there, but never pull up beside. He/she is out by themselves - it's all their lane as far as I am concerned. However, I have a had few pull up beside me and say a friendly hello and "nice bike" stuff. I don't mind.
if soemoen catches up to me he's likely in such hurry he'll be passign me any how, and if i roll up on someone nine chances out of ten im just abotu to pass him. i dotn ride beside anyoen i dotn know
Either back off and give them their space or pass them. Don't pull up like you're riding with them unless invited to do so by a hand signal or something. If I pass another bike, I rarely acknowledge them as I am focusing on the road and passing and watching for oncoming traffic. Sometimes I will give them a nod and ride on.
Saw a guy with a big flag as I turned onto the highway. Traffic ahead had set up to where we rode staggered through the next 2 towns. It was kinda obvious we were both going to the same PGR mission. He didn't mind and neither did I.
Otherwise...ride your own ride. If it's convenient, and he isn't a clown back there, no big deal. If I think I have to worry about you, I'm gone.

Very well put. I generally don't mind if people want to ride with me, talk to me or whatever. As long as you're not a *****. If so, disregard above...

If someone is riding slower, I'll pass them just like any other vehicle.
If someone is riding faster, they'll have to pass me... on two-lane roads I'll even slip to the right, give lots of room and wave them by just to make it a no-brainer and continue to ride my own pace.
If I pass someone and find that they've fallen in behind me I really don't give it much attention, other than making sure they don't ride too close for comfort given I don't know jack about their skills and judgement.
I'll always be civil and offer a wave or thumbs up in any of those scenarios...
