California just made it illegal for MC only checkpoints. That sucks that it is happening in other states.

When the economy was booming the cops in Arizona where I have a lake house were doing the same things to boaters. Stopping us and checking exhaust decibel levels etc... After the economy crashed they stopped because people stopped going out there. I would stay away from the place if the cops were ****ing with me.

What's BS is enforcing the law on something highly arguable and local. What's illegal in TN isn't necessary illegal somewhere else to begin with. I don't need a lid to ride in PA so if I wear a lid because TN requires it, I'm not gonna bother if it's DOT approved or not.
What would you say if a cop in PA gives your friend from FL a ticket because his window tinting is too dark?

maybe they should enforce something that actually matters. Like maybe pull over every single car that has a driver on a cell phone.

Loud pipes may not save lives but they sure as hell aren't hurting anyone.

I'm not sure how it's arguable. It's the law. Hey, if you're too cool or don't wanna pop for a DOT helmet, then expect to get fined. There's nothing worse than knowingly breaking the law, getting caught, and then whining about it.

That's not even a close analogy and you know it.

As for New Hope, I respect what they're trying to do there and can't really blame them. Scaring the straights and their money away with obnoxious exhausts is the last thing they want. Unless you're stopping there, it only takes a few minutes to cruise through. I have no problem acting civilized for a few minutes.

Loud pipes DO matter in this town. When they cause people to stop coming there, they have a direct affect on the town's economy. DUH

Loud pipes may not save lives but they sure as hell aren't hurting anyone.
In this case, they sure would hurt every single shop & restaurant owner who operates there.

If you don't think window tinting is a good analogy, I'd like to know why.

I know New Hope very well and I'm not at all surprised they're cracking down on noise. I can't blame them either.

it doesn't matter if you are 'acting civilized' or not, you're on a bike, you're getting pulled over. thats what makes it bs. not the fact that you're doing something illegal and got caught.

its also illegal to drive with a valid drivers license on your person. so lets pull over every car to make sure that they have one in their possession. forgot your wallet? too bad, you're illegal, here's your ticket. or better yet, lets impound that sucker and you can pay towing and storage fees after you show you have a valid license.

Because the vehicle is registered in FL and not in PA. As such, it's only subject to the tint laws in FL and can't be fined for violating PA's tint laws.

Like I said, what they're doing is NOT illegal.

its also illegal to drive with a valid drivers license on your person. so lets pull over every car to make sure that they have one in their possession. forgot your wallet? too bad, you're illegal, here's your ticket. or better yet, lets impound that sucker and you can pay towing and storage fees after you show you have a valid license.
Yeah, yeah, spare me the unlawful/targeting argument and far-fetched analogies. If you have a problem with the big bad police man stopping you on your bike, then just don't ride in New Hope. There... problem solved.

They cant just stick a meter down by the exhaust, there is a specific way to test and you could go to court and make em prove they are trained and did it the right way.
