In a previous post I explained that my key got stuck in ignition halfway between lock and unlock. I was able to get it out by lightly tappig it until the tumblers alligned. I suspected a tumbler fell out somehow and jammed it up.
I ended up taking the ignition switch assembly out (thank you service manual) and took it to a locksmith. There are seven pins (tumblers) with accompaning 7 tiny springs. Locksmith dug in and 4 of the 7 springs were rusted to the point that they broke and jammed up the ability to rotate as it should.
I have been caught in the rain and the normal bike washings (no power spray) but nothing excessive.
Anyway, after the work I'm back in good shape for $25 at the locksmith.
On a side note I asked about using WD40 or like product and he scoffed at anything other than graphite.
For what its worth I thought I'd pass it along.........
