Johnny, nope I posted it correctly. There is still nothing safer than leather for the aforementioned reason. When the study refers to synthetics they are referring to ballistic nylons, cordura, etc... I know I bought a real nice summer weight made of synthetic just before reading the report, so I'm wearing it anyhow, lol...
I am using my old snowmobile visibility trick. Three (3) inch strips of retroflective tape on the sides of the helmet. 3M makes a very bright product and it's only a couple of bucks to do a lid. It's amazing how much this helps at night.

Hi all, just thought I'd chime in on this one. A bit off topic but still relevant a brake light module that flashes your brake light while you sit at stop lights is very effective as well. I am sure most of us know some one that got plowed into while not even moving. You can get them from JPcycles and such or http://www.signaldynamics.com/ . They are easy to install most just plug right in but shop around a bit you might be able to get a deal somewhere.
I've been looking into these...and when I have some money to spend after I get some other things, I eventually might get one. They are good for being seen at night.
