At 50K miles, the tensioners in my '04 Road King looked like they could go another 20K but I installed the HD/Andrews tensioner kit w/24Ns. I also upgraded the inner cam bearings with Torringtons. I kept the stock pushrods, bored the cyls to 95" w/screamin' Eagle flat tops and installed a "new" set of 96" heads w/.030 gasket. I'm happy with the way the bike runs BUT if I didn't want to spend much money, I'd go with a new set of stock tensioners and a set of Andrews 21s. The issue here is the pushrods because if you want to re-use the stockers, you'll have to remove the tank and the rocker covers which will only require the removal of the heads to get the jugs off and do a big bore and some porting. Life is full of tough choices.

Love my gear drive Andrews 21's. Best upgrade I've ever made. They have over 16K on them and it's nice to not have to worry about plastic in the cam chest.
