Well, it was a question of when not if and today was the day. Stopped to fill the bike and out of habit pushed the button for regular instead of premium. Now I have 2.47 gallons of regular mixed in with the premium that was still in the tank, roughly half and half or the equivalent of plus grade.
On the ride home I felt like there was the slightest popping from the pipes on deceleration but may have just been looking for something to go along with being annoyed at myself. I'll probably go buy a gallon or so of premium after 40 miles and repeat a time or two before riding farther between fills again. I know I haven't done major harm to the bike but am annoyed just the same.
I wonder if this is like dropping the bike, that you're either one who bought the wrong fuel grade already or one who will do so eventually.
It really make no difference, just ride it. Plenty of guys here run regular with out issue
Although the above is very true, I wld not b concerned abt it at all. NNo worries my friend. It happens a lot. Not a "stupid" thing. Easy to do.
And vice versa in the rare ocassional I drive 1 of my cars, I wld forget and hit the high test - but I digress.
Do NOT worry abt it, just next time use the right stuff. NO harm done. Some ppl I know have done this will run the tank 1/2 dn then fill it iwth the right stuff.
At least you didn't put diesel fuel in it like someone I know.... that was pretty funny. Crazy fugger realized it before he started it and we drained the tank thank god. Not one of his brightest crowning achievements for sure. Although he swears his bike runs 10 times better than before, I guess it sorta cleaned it out a bit.
