Someone corrrect me if I'm wrong, but I believe the '08 had the same six speed as the '07. Many complain about it being too high of gearing. It would have, however, the factory installed IDS rear wheel which supposedly took care of a harmonic vibration that showed up in the '07's.
According to the spec sheets I could find, gearing is the same for those two model years.
I own a 08 ultra which now has 30k on it . I owned since new and except for the 1ST factory service it has never seen a dealer! I just got back from a 3000 mile trip with my wife and more luggage than i can bungie on . no issues with the bike ever , but there was a factory recall on all 08 ultras for the fuel system which i did not have done. A very close friend is the head mechanic at my dealer and he says its a great bike no major issues. I hope this helps
Ohhh yeah, you'll likely want to address the exhaust.
Mine is fine, but exhaust was totally redesigned along with the frame in '09. '09 was supposed to be leaps and bounds better.
But who leaves exhaust alone anyway right? You'll do a stage 1 the day you bring it home right?

I was thinking more down the lines of XiED's like I did my 08 FX. Hopefully 1 of the other 2 owners already did a stage 1. Couldn't my dealer hook it up and see??

You said the exhaust is stock? Are you sure? It'd be easy to take AC off and see if it is stock or Stage 1. Don't know if dealer can tell or not. Think if it has a modual like the PC it is in a side cover?
You've been in the forums long enough to make the right decision on a tuner I'd guess.
If exhaust hasn't been done, I'd say you want to get it done by spring. In the winter the extra heat isn't a real problem.

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
I bought a 2008 with 8k on it from my usual dealer in Aug of 2010. I have taken it to Sturgis, Laconia and many other smaller biker events and some nice 3-5 day bike trips. I havent had any issues with the TBW or things that I have read on here about the 2008's. It is good to have in the back of your mind for awareness i think. Then if something does ever start at least your not in the dark. My bike had Reinhart slip on 3.5 when I bought it and the SE race tuner in the tourpak. (another good thing ) I added V & H dresser duals with the reinharts and man that woke the bike right up after the retune. It also eliminated the heat issue under the leg. As far as the wobble goes, I really don't notice anything since I had a 1993 wide glide before this bike and I would wobble all over the place anyway. This bike was like going to a Cadillac for me, with the fuel injection etc. The TBW takes some time to get used to and yes there seems to be a little lag but It is easy get used to it after a while. Overall I am am very pleased with this bike. The ABS saved me at least once already. With all the perks on this bike I thought it was a great pruchase. I was always tweaking my carb on the wide glide. Seems like every bike will have it issues. I think its a great bike myself.
I think that's a fair price, I bought a used 08 E-Glide Classic, with 25,900 miles for 13,500 and I've got it up to 38,000 miles now, and so far no major problems, and on the wobble issue, this 08 is a lot more stabe than my 05 was, I think because it has an upper front engine mount from the front head to the frame, and I've had it close to 100 MPH on a few long sretches of road here in Ga. and no wobble. And I also like the six gallon tank.
Goog luck with your purchase.
