Default Any input helps

So a buddy of mine and I are getting into some parts fabrication, and have been getting feedback from forums, groups, people we know, etc. As far as aftermarket parts go, what parts have you run into where the price keeps you from purchasing? How about things that you purchased that you felt we're too much, but you needed or just couldn't live without? We are thinking high quality, lower cost options on a lot of common accessories, and we are just trying to get as much feedback as possible. Thanks everyone!

Welder, pipe bender, lathe, mill, torch. Only the fun stuff. We aren't gonna do anything crazy or internals.

Sounds like good sissy bars & luggage racks could be made.

All of the parts and accessories that I have purchased for my 8 Harley's have been of high quality and fair priced. I used to by parts for my two Honda's a VTX1800 and a Honda Rune. Most of the items I bought for them from a Honda dealer were higher priced that the HD stuff (think low volume on the impact on price).

I did waste money on one purchase. A turn signal relocation kit for my 10 Super Glide. I looked at the set up before I installed the relocation kit and realized that I could just raise the bar above what the factory sets it at so the turn signals don't come into contact with the tank at full lock.

I would suggest that there is not a part that you could fabricate that would compete with a factory part in price or quality. Could you do a juffy stand repacement for less? Could you do luggage racks for less?

Not to mention product liability. You are on a fools errand. This is just some tough love for you.

If it could be made better and cheaper it would have been done already.
