Here in Europe we use different classifications, and helmet laws are very strictly.
Because I am planning to buy an american DOT helmet on carbonfiber.com, I would like you to explain me the differences between a DOT and no DOT helmet. Which is safer?
If you have strict helmet laws you can't even think to go non DOT. DOT is a certification stating that the helmet passes the Department of Transportation's guidlines/testing procedures. There are other helmet testing corporations also (ie. SNELL, ANSI) however if your helmet passes SNELL for instance it probably passes DOT. Ask Anubisss he will fill you in on non DOT helmets.

That's just wrong, dude.
TxHarleyGuy......I didn't mean it like it sounded. I am aware that he just got cited for a non DOT helmet a little bit ago and he would be able to tell the guy specifics. Thats all I meant by that statement.

Pretty good explanation of the dot test here. even has a link to a comparision of the en as well.
A novelty helmet is a very cheap copy of a helmet. No testing. People wear them in protest to helmet laws. They are no protection except to keep your hair from getting wet.
Anyone know of a DOT skid Lid type helmet that doesn't look like it is sitting a mile on top of the head? Something that fits down on you and looks good? Or I might just have a bucket head!!!
