I had them on my goldwing the last 6 years I had it. (they were on when I bought the bike) I've had my Street Glide 2 years and I had Deer run into the side of me 3 months ago..So do they work..I don't know I may have just have been lucky the years prior. I know tons of people that have never had any issues with deer and some that have..If it helps you sleep at night go for it. I'm not going to put them on mine. they can hear you and if they are going to run they are going to run..Simple as that.Whistles will not guarantee that they will run away from you..
Yes, the deer can hear them, but no they will not make a deer not come into the road.
Living in one of the most heavily deer populated counties in the U.S. I have come to this conclusion about deer. It's not the deer that you see that is going to get you. I drive 40 - 50k local miles each year for work and about 10 - 20k personal miles. The deer the I have hit have always been the 2nd or 3rd deer in the bunch and is either 1 of the following. New fawn, yearling deer or rutting buck(but if I only got it once a year, I would run full speed across a busy highway to get it too). They are more interested in following the lead deer (the one I have seen and avoided) than they are with avoiding a moving vehicle.
