I'll probably buy a new battery just to be on the safe side I think it's time to replace it anyway. Now that I think about it when I tried to start it the exhaust sputtered for a second like it was about to crank then I got nothing but clicks. So I feel like when I started the bike at the dealership that might have been the last start that battery had. I'll let you know when I get home from work if that solved it I'm crossing my fingers it's the battery thanks for the help
Don't let a charge on the battery that starts the bike make you think the battery is OK. I just replaced a battery that I charged and it was good to start so I fired her up and went to work then when I went out in the afternoon to start the bike and go home it wouldn't start. Good voltage doesn't always equate to good cranking amps to turn the bike over and an old battery might take a charge and get you started once or twice but leave you stranded later on.
I'm not sure what did it I tightened the ground bolt cleaned all of the cable ends stuck a new battery in her and she fired right up. I guess the battery in it died while she was sitting on the showroom floor. I just road around for 45 minutes with no issues I was a little nervous about the bike having a bigger problem at first but now I'm damn glad I bought this bike. Hopefully the battery will hold a charge so I don't end up having to deal with a big wiring mess but it shouldnt be an issue. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah dude, don't worry about there being other problems. It was definitely the battery. A two year old bike with only 400 miles? The original owner probably drove it a few times and parked it letting the battery go dead. 2 years of being dead will kill the battery. It will take a charge but won't hold it.
Enjoy your bike! You still might want to get one of those cable checkers though, never know when you will need it!

Maybe, but with cars a very common cause of what you described is the battery cable connections - people change alternators and batteries, when all they need was to clean and tighten the cable ends and ground. The new battery can't hurt.
