thanks for all the replies, i am seeing the consultant over the eye problem, i did have the operation when i was about 5yrs old but when you reach 50+ it returns, it was temporary cured by adding a prism to my lense's which cured it for while and now i have a stronger temp one fitted over the left eye, i have decided to store the bike away untill i know for certain one way or the other, but in honestly i think it would be best to sell it next spring, cant risk it happening again, and yes when i close my left eye the vision is corrected.
I had sort of the reverse happen to me. Playing guitars was my passion. I loved to collect them also. I had about 30 quality acoustic and electric guitars. I was playing this spring with some friends and suddenly my hand went numb and I did not have strength to make a bar chord. I was diagnosed with a rare wrist ailment in my left hand called Kiembocks disease. Incurable and progressive. I could never play the guitar properly again. I asked my doctor if I could ride a bike. He felt it was no problem as the left hand fingers are used to pull the clutch in. He was right. I rented a bike ( ihad not ridden in 40 years, I am 58) and had no wrist problems from it.
I sold all my guitars and bought my Slim. I like my new hobby even more than my old hobby.
I felt bad for myself for one hour and just decided to move on.
Good luck with your decision. I hope you find something that you enjoy in your spare time.
Bummer...but everyone stops riding sooner or later. There is always a chance you will get the problem solved and ride again, but not worth getting hurt or killed for now. prayers and luck to you.
and yes when i close my left eye the vision is corrected.[/QUOTE]
Depending on the vision in your right eye is there no way that you could ride with an eye patch on your left eye, when I had my squint I occasionally used to ride with my right eye closed if the sun was bright and on my right side, my left eye however is my dominant eye, I once closed my left eye which when I did the right eye would automatically straighten up, but it was weird when I opened both eyes a couple of seconds later I had started to veer across the road, depends I surpose which is your dominant eye as well as how good the vision is.

I too agree with EveHD. I would also like to convince you to try some other doctors to find out what the prognosis is and if any new treatments exist. Medicine is pretty amazing. I do feel for you though and do wish the best for you.
I'm so sorry to hear of your condition. It really sucks to know that you won't be able to enjoy one of your favorite hobbies. Like others have said you are truly a wise man for taking a step down. I wish you the best and pray that the medical field can come up with a way to help your condition.
