For 40 - 50% off....maybe. The fact that they are salvage titles means the insurance company decided the cost to repair would exceeded the value of the vehicle (or be a major percentage). You can see the rust already forming on the rotors and exhaust systems. If any of the electronics or connectors were under saltwater, it's just a matter of time until they fail. They don't mention any service to the starter, bearings, brakes, throttle, or forks. At those prices, they are hoping for a sucker.
HD of Staten Island is selling alot of there showroom 2012/2013 bikes on ebay. They say the bikes were exposed to flood from Hurricane Sandy, so they are selling at discount prices with no warranties. They also say the bikes are all running and had all oils changed and there might be some repairs needed. Anyone have any thought on considering to buy such bikes.
I live by Long Beach Island, and had almost 4 feet of salt storm surge in my garage, which held my FXDF and my Lady's XL1200C (sorry, I was in New Orleans, of all places, on business, and didn't have time to move them to safety). Believe me, the bikes started to literally melt within hours after immersion. Having years of experience with marine engines, and after seeing what salt water does to metal and electrical parts, I wouldn't take a salt water flooded bike unless it was for free, and I had nothing better to do than phuQu3 with it. One of the saddest things was to see it get hauled away, number 2 in a planned dozen that day.......
Caveat emptor!Don't even THINK about buying anything used from the Northeast for a year or two! Planning on ordering a BRANDY NEW 2013 FXDF as soon as the insurance check arrives!
