Default question for texas folks

im not sure if this is the best place to but this question out but here goes. im and planning a long roadtrip from southern mississippi to boulder colo. so my planned route is US 85 from texarkana to witchita falls and then pick up US 287 to colorado. any thoughts or other suggested routes or what to watch out for this is my first long road trip. also any sites that are a must see please id love to hear some, im planning on stopping by cadillac ranch. thanks

Hey you are coming right by my place in WF. 287 is OK between WF and Amarillo. Kinda bare though. Some good eating spots in the WF area and Red River Harley Dealer is located on 287 just west of WF in Iowa Park. PM me if you need anything while you are in our neck of the woods.

Have been back and forth numerous time. Consider heading north from Southern Mississippi, seeing the Ozarks of northern Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma, then cut north into Kansas and take in the small towns every 10-20 miles on a nice highway into Colorado. Or, make a circle... see Texas on the way out, HS/OK/AR on the way back.

From my experience, the northern route is more preferable. An alternative route to the north so one can go both ways without seeing much of the same is come back through southern Missouri and Tennessee. Very nice.

sfarson i just emailed you that nortern route does sound like a vaey good alternate route i cant wait to hear from you about it
