If the bike has crash bars, check the tab on the frame that the top of the crash bar mounts to. Even the slightest drop will bend that tab a little--most easily seen on Softails.
I am on my 19th Harley & have never EVER dropped one. Came close a couple times (not a good idea to move your bike in a garage wearing only your socks) I think if I DID drop my beautiful RKC I would be traumatized for life; like finding out your girl cheated on you--you know; spoiled goods! I chalk it up to being overly cautious. Have dropped rice back in the day a couple times, but WHO CARED?!
When I see a classified ad that says "Never" (as in never dropped, raced, seen rain, etc.) I get suspicious. The phrase "Serious inquiries only" is a waste of words, too. Do sellers think folks put on a clown suit before calling about a bike for sale?
First time, the jiffy stand wasn't locked. When I saw the bike going over in the parking lot with about 6 or 7 bikes beside it, I about puked. After getting my bearings and cleaning my pants, picked it up.
Second time, rode home in the rain. Changed my routine for when I park to open my barn door to back the bike in and tried to hop off the bike without the jiffy stand. Did you know Harleys self-balance for a couple of seconds before very slowly going down? Did you also know that trying to hold up a 700 pound bike with just one hand is highly inadvisable?
Point being, **** happens. Technically my bike has been dropped. Does it still run well? Yup.
Yep, I dropped mine and it is still fine and completely undetectable
Same here, except that the edge of one of the mirrors is scratched. If I thought it mattered, I'd buy another mirror on Ebay for $10.
To the OP - let's say the bike did get a scratch on the front fender from being dropped...so? You can see the scratch, what else do you think being dropped is going to do to it?
