I'm trying to find a medium sized (removable) storage bag to slide on the sissy bar of my fat boy. I need it big enough to carry two coats on day-long trips and when we get home, I want to take the bag off. I do not want saddlebags or a permanent luggage rack on my bike. I've looked at and contacted T-bags and they said that all of their bags need to be supported by a rack. She said that some of their older designs worked without a rack because they had a sleeve with the top sewn shut - they no longer carry them. I offered to pay for a custom sewn sleeve and she told me that it wasn't an option. GREAT customer service......... !! The stores around here don't have any and the bags on e-bay don't show the sleeves so I don't know where to look.
Do any of you know someone who sells a bag like this ??
I have a Nelson-Rigg Survivor Series SVT300 Day Tripper. It attaches to my sissybar with straps and sits on the passenger pillion. It's waterproof, and inexpensive. It's large enough to hold a helmet and a few days worth of clothes and is barely taller than my sissybar when on the bike.
I saw that bag at a Renegade Classics store yesterday. The straps wouldn't keep the bag suspended without a rack and using the rear seat isn't an option when my wife is riding with me. I did send Nelson an e-mail to see if a sewn sleeve was an option. We'll see what they say...
Go to T-Bags web site and look under their clearance section. They offer some incredible deals, especially when they are getting ready to bring out new products. I bought a great bag for my Heritage for around 30 bucks.
You can also get a detachable sissy bar and luggage rack. Saw one yesterday on a delux. That way, you can use a regular t-bag and not mess up your paint.

Bill,
Thank you very much for the SAC contact. With all of my local and internet searches, that bag manufacturer was never mentioned. I contacted them today and found that they're an excellant company to deal with. He asked me to provide them with the exact dimension from the top of my sissy bar to the top of the fender and with this dimension, they'll custom sew the sleeve at no extra cost. If the bag position doesn't meet my satisfaction, I'm to return it for another free adjustment. I couldn't be more satisfied !!
He thought that the "Half" Sac would hold two leather jackets, but he wasn't sure. Would you or anyone else on here know ? I didn't really want to go with a full-size bag but I will if it's needed.
I can let you know in the morning if the half bag will hold two jackets. I'm not home to try it right now. I know it will not hold the jackets and chaps both. You would need the big bag for that.
SAC makes the travel bags for HD that are in their catalog. Most shops have a couple of sets around, so if you are close to a shop you could stop in and see what size would best serve you before you order.
Also keep in mind that the SAC has a full lifetime warranty.
