Default Do i or Dont i ?

Ok here it is, i have my dyna super glide custom which is great but keep thinking should i change it for a heritage softail as i go everywhere mainly 2 up with the missus, would it be benefiting us by changing or should i stick with the dyna? We like to go touring and the just potter around locally, the heritage ive been offered is a 2002 reg 1450cc 5 speed where as my dyna is a 2007 reg 1584cc 6 speed ,the heritage has everything we need on it so im really not sure what to do,i know its down to individual taste but some input, info and experiences would great.Cheers

You should try test riding one and decide. I know by reading the Dyna threads that many are happy touring on them. So are the Softail owners. It'll come down to personal choice. I'm a fan of both but prefer the look of the Dyna and the twin shocks. But that's just me.

When I had my heritage whenever I was on the road I was always looking for that extra gear, this was before the 6th gear became standard.

Are you going to be doing overnight road trips? Extra bags on the Heritage is nice although I know you can put bags and on the Dyna. Is the Dyna been sufficient for the trips you have taken?

Mayberent a Heritage and see how it works for the next trip?

I personally love the Heritage....

Your roads and general riding conditions personally I'd stay with the Dyna , softtails all have weak rear suspension .

Personally, I'd go with the newer one...the Dyna.

YES! What are you waiting for? Opportunity knocks once in a lifetime yo. All jokes aside I would stick with the newer Dyna unless you are getting a newer heritage. I have a 2013 heritage for me and my wife because just like you I mostly ride two up locally and sometimes long distance. Good luck with your choice

Well if you end up trading for a better 2 up situation, do it right the first time and just get a Road King!

Well, I ride the same kind of roads (and roundabouts) as you. I changed my Fatboy for a Heritage last year. I mostly ride two up and we like to do long trips in Europe. We love the new bike and it's versitilaty, shield and bags come off easily if you feel like riding without and are great on for when you are touring. Test one and if it's for you, go for it!

Gets some bags & a quick detach windshield for your Dyna & upgrade your seat.
Trading your '07 Dyna for an '02 Softail you would be going from a 96" to an 88", and a 6 speed to a 5 speed + going from fuel injection to carb. Not to mention they Dyna is a much better handling bike all around.
Set your rear shocks to 4 or 5 position also if you haven't already.
In summary, easy choice....keep the Dyna & add some accessories.
