Q: Why do I ride?

A: Because there are fewer things closer to gawd than the wind in your face on a hot, sunny day with nothing but empty highway stretching out in front of you, and your favorite girl hanging on tightly for dear life.

I rode when I was younger and didn't really appreciate or even think why. Then I got married and we bought a 46' boat and spent most of our time on the water. Wind in your face cruising the bay, dropping the hook where ever, swimming naked with the wife etc. It was freedom and an escape from the pressures of everyday life. When the economy went south I was forced to sell the boat. Spent the next year depressed and bored. Walked into a dealer one day out of the blue and said "I'll take that one". I realized it isn't so much the bike or the boat, it's the ability to just go and not care where I end up as long as the wind is in my face. Plus it really is cheaper that seeing a psychiatrist!

"A motorcycle is a spiritual object........
When I ride I'm exactly in the moment........it's like meditation. I'm in the flow."

Ive read all the post about this and to be honest I dont know why I ride. I started when i was 4 and started racing mx at age 6 and quit racing at age 25. All my adult life Ive done all the differnt fads, drag raced a kz1000, rode sportbikes, roadraced a couple of times, had differnt hds. even tried not to have bikes. I liked having the extra money not being spent on stupid bike ****. But at the end of the day I wasnt happy! I never felt like myself. I am a bike guy. love it,live it, cant get rid of it.

Got my first two Wheeled motorized bike when I was 12; a Cushman Husky, not much to look at but was a lot of fun. Now at 75 I am still riding because it is the best therapy I can think of. Wooly1 said it just about right.

Wasn't it René Descartes who said, "I ride, therefore I am."?
