The was one similar to that on CL here not too long ago. Looked to be in about the same condition as well. The ad read that the bike was in running order and had original paint. The price on it was crazy low too. Like $8000.00. By the time I got around to calling about it, it was gone. Prolly never gonna find another one like that one.
If had that kind of money I'd buy a new Harley And a basket case to mess around with. Still have plenty of beer and parts money left over. If I was to buy something like that I would get it in running order and ride the ***** off of it.

My Grandfater worked livestock auctions back in the 50's. He told me how livestock records were made. I buy your Bull for $100,000 and you buy my Hog for $100,000. No money changes hands except for Commission and owners get great publicity for the price.
I aways get suspicious of auctions when things look a little out of line. Ever hear of "schill" buyers?
Clarkston Wa is only 4 mi from me, if its who i think it is, his Dad had a Motorcycle Shop for years, left all the Bikes to his Son, He also had several Indians and other Harleys, the Son was riding a HD 45 the last. i knew, if he still has all the bikes, he is sitting on a Gold Mine, George.

That is the difference between us..folks like you 'n me. I like some of the new iron, just not sure I really want to spend that kind of money for a "new" bike (wants wants me to though) if I can save for an original condition and ride the **** out of it.
And basket case bikes can cost a lot if you are trying to take it back to any semblance of restored condition (I know cuz I am now at year ten obn my 49 El project). If you just build them to ride them it costs way less mean green.
my first gf's dad traded a 41fl for a supposedly $50k business, i think he got screwed/prisonraped, but?? i don't know the whole story or exactly what he got for it. the bike is sitting on a shelf at Bears HD in Ravenna OH.

That's the first thing that came to mind when I saw the listing.
I know a guy near here who wanted to sell a 1948 Pan in original condition and in running order 4 yrs ago.
He was offended when I told him it's probably not worth more than 15k.I told him to check online and sure enough I was on the high end at the time.He found the average at 13k but thought it should be closer to 50k.
AFAIK he still has it in his basement.
