The high beam headlight on my '98 Heritage works fine. But when the low beam and fog/passing lamps are turned on they cycle on and off every two or three minutes...off, on, off, on. It is like they are getting hot, shutting off, and then when they cool off they turn back on. I have replaced all the bulbs and checked that there are no exposed wires in the lamp housings. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks
Also could be a short somewhere in the system. I had that problem on my 99 Heritage Softale. Mine was a combination. First, there was a short, specifically one of the bulbs was shorting out. Worked for about 1000 miles, then started regularly cycling on and off. Ended up being one of the the CB's under the seat.

I don't have fog lights or anything, but last year I had a problem where my high beam would go out, then it would come on and my low would go out, then they'd both work or go out and I thought it had something to do with colling off, ebcause it would happen a lot when I parked for a while.
After I did all kinds of stupid crap, including replace my switches, my bulb and my socket inside the light assembly, it turned out the problem was that the deutsche type plug that the light plugs into and which attaches to the frame under the left side of my tank, had come loose from the frame (probably left that way when the last owner hooked up the new headlight). All the shaking around had bent the contacts inside so they weren't getting good contact any more. I took it apart and squeezed them down some and hooked the housing back on the frame the light has been fine ever since.
I have not had a chance to check back in for awhile and I appreciate all the suggestions. Looks like I need to do some detective work with the wiring...sounds like a short somewhere. Thanks for the help!
