I have the HD Mustache bars on my Heritage, no complaints.

Protects your bike and gives you a place to stretch out your legs. I think having your feet on the highway pegs makes slow speed riding easier.

I google searched "linby bar softail standards" and got a bunch of images...here's one, not sure if it's a standard.

IMHO, It's a personal decision of form over function that you need to make.

Back in the day, I would never even consider them on my 75 sporty or 84fxr. The benefit of leg protection and less damage to the bike in an accident or dropping it simply did not outwiegh the negative way it would have changed the look of those bikes "to me". Plus I was f*cking immortal 25 years ago, so that had a hell of a lot to do with it as well.

Time and miles roll on... too many years riding electra glides now and crash bars with highway pegs simply look and feel normal to me.

From a function perspective, I saw my dad crash his 05 RK on a ride we were on years ago. The front and rear crashbars saved his leg, body and the bike. I was able to get him to his feet and settled and then get the bike out of the ditch and back on the road. A few minutes to straighten out the flooboards, levers and some minor items and we were able to make the ride back. A year later, I saw a friend lose it in a turn at 45 and the bike slid and slammed into a guardrail. He walked away from that crash. We had to bend the crashbar back and fix the shifter and clutch lever, he needed to have about 2 or 3 smokes on the side of the road to chill out and get it back together again... but he rode that bike off of the mountain pass and made it another 150 miles till we rolled into Vegas that night.

I've seen them in action and hope I never need to use them or that anyone else needs to use them again for that matter, but they are defintly staying on my bike.

Think of them as adult training wheels. Like adult diapers-depends.
