IMO, saddlebags on a wide glide totally kills the look of the bike. A sissy bar with a rack would not look as out of place, IMO. You can cary a lot of stuff with a duffle bag tied vertically to the rack and back seat.

Auburn Leather Company, Auburn, KY has been making top quality leather saddlebags for almost 150 years. I highly recommend their bags based on my 10 year experience with a set on my '96 FX softail custom.

Everyone cares about looks. Those who say they don't are lying. It's why people choose aftermarket accessories and pipes of a certain style, etc..They are going for a look.

I wasn't meaning to insult anyone. I was just offering my own personal take that there are other storage options, with space that rivals saddlebags, that don't detract from the lines of a chopper-style bike. It's all personal preference.

Alright...let me rephrase...I don't care MUCH about the look. All my bikes are built to be functional first. I need to be able to carry gym clothes, beer and the occasional bunch of groceries. I go on a week trip a couple times a year. I need bags for clean underwear and extras...They can come off but I always need them when I do. My bags on my RK were always full of stuff. So is my pick-up...I need stuff...

I had boss bags on my fatboy expensive but worth it.On and off in 15 seconds. They spent 99% of the time on.
I've got saddlebags, two fork bags , and a bib with pocket on my wide glide.
Might not look good but everything stays with me.
You can tie a lot of stuff on but you will lose some over time.

You call a poster (themouth) a liar and then post "I wasn't meaning to insult anyone". That's a major insult where I live.

If you ever do any serious long distance riding you will see that the low weight of stuffed saddlebags add tremendously to a sissy bar or tee bag. They also are much better for daily riding.
