The salt getting on my bike really doesn't bother me. I mean, wash it off and it will be fine. It's the frigid air that's a deal breaker.
Oh, and the accumulated sand/salt on the road do create a significant hazard to us 2-wheeled folks.

Freezing rain, sleet, snow, sleet, freezing rain, snow, in that order here in the heart land. Got the snow shovel on the back porch. I'd have to dig a path just to get to my garage/shop. Cut out of work at 10:30 this morning just as it started to hit. Hunkering down with some Guinness Stew I made, (1 for the stew 5 for me). Planning on Bar B Queing in shorts this weekend. Gotta love St. Louis weather.

Ya you can wash of the salt that you are able to get at. But the salt and salt dust that gets into crevices can be a long term problem.

I plan on keeping my bike for awhile though, not one of those guys that trades it in for a new one every year or two.

You echo my very sentiments.

That's why I still have my 2k6 Nissan Frontier. Vehicles are too expensive to buy on a whim. Payments hurt too much.

Lets see...I'm sitting here typing on my laptop looking at three inches of ice outside the kitchen window. Think I'll stay in today.
